Established in 2005, Tashkent Medical Academy traces back its history to 1920, making It is among the oldest medical schools in Uzbekistan for MBBS studies. Tahkent State University and Tashkent Medical Institute, established in 1931 and 1990, respectively, were the previous names of the institution before it became Tashkent Medical Academy in 2005. Currently, the University operates three branches: the Urgench, Fergana, and Termez branches.
Ranked among the top 5 universities in Uzbekistan, the faculty there was founded in the academy and consists of General Medicine, Pedagogy, and Nursing. It can accommodate 4662 students in total, and many Indian students are also pursuing MBBS at the university. The institute educates 205 doctors and over 765 postgraduate students. The MBBS program at Tashkent Medical Academy is built around producing well educated professionals on 58 chairs through the acquisition of medical knowledge. 'On coordination and monitoring of research works' was implemented by the institute under a grant on human health and the environment. Within the institute are seven distinct medical councils.
