The Royal College of Surgeons In Ireland and University College Dublin Malaysia Campus (RUMC) is a prestigious private medical university located in George Town, Penang, Malaysia.[1] Founded in 1996 as Penang Medical College, it serves as an esteemed international branch campus of the renowned Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and University College Dublin.
RUMC's undergraduate medicine program is conducted in both Ireland and Malaysia. The program consists of a 2.5-year pre-clinical training phase at either RCSI or UCD in Dublin, Ireland, followed by a 2.5-year clinical training phase in Penang. During the clinical training, students participate in rotations at Hospital Pulau Pinang, Hospital Seberang Jaya, Hospital Bukit Mertajam, and Hospital Taiping. The program accepts new students once a year, with the intake taking place in September.

Undergraduate Medicine (MB BCh BAO)
RUMC's premier offering is their undergraduate medical degree, which commences every September. This exceptional program provides students with the opportunity to study in both Dublin, Ireland and Penang, Malaysia. Notably, the degree is awarded by the esteemed National University of Ireland (NUI).
RUMC provides a one-year Foundation in Science (FIS) program, which serves as a pre-university route to medicine. This program is conducted at RUMC's campus in Penang, Malaysia and commences every May/June.
Other programmes
The Malaysia-Ireland Training Programme for Family Medicine (MInTFM) is organized by RUMC in partnership with the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP). This specialized training program, spanning over a period of four years, is designed for Medical Officers employed under the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, whether on a permanent or contract basis.
